I've been back in the studio, experimenting with translating my drawings into sculptures.
I spent a good five weeks in my Australian studio in April and May, clearing out the stockroom and working on a full-scale drawing for a sculpture. But just as importantly, I collaborated with Adam Tremellen at JMAR Engineering to create a test section of the red and green sculptures I'd designed back in December. We needed to check the steel's thickness, strength, and weight before committing to the full-sized pieces. You can see the test pieces in the photos; I'll be heading back to pick them up in June.
I've been working on some experimental drawings, exploring how to create a three-dimensional sculpture using multiple two-dimensional planes.
