Getting back to my Bangkok studio in December, I found this huge canvas—a whopping 110 x 240 cm—already sketched out and ready to go. I had no idea it would end up taking four months to finish! Working on it, I learned so much about turquoise – it’s a real chameleon, changing so subtly depending on the light and the colors around it. Its relationship with ultramarine is particularly fascinating. Now that it’s finally done, I can move onto that sculpture project. I'm really hoping it doesn't take nearly as long!
